Day activities. We suggest the following options for day activites:
Easy post travel day around Mapua. Particularly if you are tired after travelling. Drive down to Mapua, have lunch, visit the shops and buy in some provisions. In the afternoon after a rest, you could walk (30mins) or drive down to Ruby Bay (5mins) and walk on the beach. Alternatively, take a leisurely walk around our property and check out the highland cattle.
Abel Tasman National Park. Wilsons Abel Tasman cruises. Cruises leave from 9am. Their bus from nelson will stop over the road from our property. Either stay on the boat the whole time or hop on and off for short walks in the National Park. Alternatively, pack a picnic lunch, drive to Marahau (30-40 minutes) and take an easy walk into one of the beaches of the national park.
Saturday market/Nelson City. Attend the market, do some shopping then have a leisurely lunch, then visit the Nelson Wearable Art and Classic Car museum in the afternoon. www.nelsonmarket.co.nz
Wine Tour. Spend the day sampling wine and letting someone else take care of you! www.winenelson.co.nz
Golden Bay. Even driving over “Marble Mountain” to Takaka is an iconic Nelson trip. However, activites we recommend on your day out “in the bay” include:
Guided tour through Ngarua Caves www.ngaruacaves.co.nz
Visit Waikorupupu Springs An easy 5 minute walk from the car park
Continue on towards Collingwood and have lunch at Golden Bay’s iconic Mussel Inn www.musselinn.co.nz or go back to Takaka and lunch at the bay’s other iconic cafe, Whole Meal Cafe in the main street. www.wholemealcafe.co.nz . Do some shopping in Takaka then:
Stop off at Anatoki just south of Takaka and catch a salmon. Get it smoked on site, pick up some bread and salad items from Motueka and travel back to Kereru House to sit on a balcony enjoying the view while you feast! www.anatokisalmon.co.nz
